Ok, this weeks meeting is Monday the 23rd Feb in the C & S office at 7:30pm. For the new members to the mailing list that do not know where that is, it is up the stairs of the Students Union and your first door in on the right.

We will be giving a run down of Sparkle’s and Brighton mostly.

Also for those of you who booked tickets for AMI (Alternative Miss Ireland) they have arrived. As soon as you give me the money for the tickets you can collect them. Call or text me.

Out in UL presents the 6th annual gig of the year - Queerbash! This year it begins with a variety show at 9pm followed by a night of total chaos with DJ Jules, DJ Jeff, Fermelda Heidi, Déjà vu, Madonna Lucia, Sheila Fitzpatrick and much, much more…

Queerbash is Out in UL’s annual fundraising event for the activities during the year of the LGBT society. It attracts a large and friendly crowd each year and promotes respect and diversity between all members of the community

This year, it is part of a series of events over 3 days know as “Sparkle’s”

Acceptance through Understanding: Tackling Homophobia

Sparkle’s is a three day celebration, beginning on the 26th February, that has never before been done in Limerick. It is a weekend of understanding, acceptance and fun. Sparkle’s is a safe space for members of the LGBT community and their friends. Out in UL wish to bring the LGBT community closer together and create closer ties among all of us as we will only ever achieve anything if we achieve it together.

*Feb 26th -Launch Party: Riddlers @ 9pm

Meet a few friends, make a little love, get down tonight…

*Feb 27th - Queerbash 6:Tatlers @ 9pm

If you go to nothing else this year go to Queerbash. Beginning with a Variet Show at 9pm, this is Out in UL’s annual fundraising event usually incorporating approximately 400 people, this will be a night of total chaos, with DJ Jules, DJ Jeff, Fermelda Heidi, Déjà vu, Madonna Lucia, Sheila Fitzpatrick and much, much more…

*Feb 28th -Sparkles Workshops: UL @ 11am

This will be a day of workshops and talks based around the LGBT community. Included in the workshops is sexual health, a drag workshop, marriage equality and Dublin Pride to name but a few…Afterwards there will be refreshments before everyone gets ready to go for another night out!

hope ye are all settled back into college.

The first meeting of 2009 will take place in the Clubs & Societies office in the Students’ Union @ 7.30pm (Monday 2nd Feb). There’s lots to talk about and we hope to see you there. We’ll go for coffee in Java’s/Scholars afterwards.
