Limerick Pride/mardi gras
Going to be the 2nd/3rd week in September - looking for ideas for an
Out in UL float

Survey Request:
“I am conducting a series of studies concerning sexual orientation at
NUI Maynooth as part of my PhD in psychology. Last year many members
of the gay community participated in the research (mainly from Dublin
though). This year, I am again urgently seeking LGBT participants to
take part in the studies (which will be ongoing for some time).
Hopefully, I will be able to recruit participants from areas outside
of Dublin as well as those from Dublin, so that my sample is more
representative. All participants must be over 18 years of age and
fluent English speakers. It is anticipated that in total,
participation should take approximately 1hr per person (this may vary
across individuals). All participants will be fully and completely
debriefed immediately after the study and responses/data obtained as a
result of participation will be kept completely anonymous and
confidential.” email address and phone number available from Out in UL

RAINBOW SUPPORT SERVICES FUNDRAISING TABLE QUIZ:
This is scheduled for next week, 9pm, at Teds (O’connell street), teams of four, @ 5 euros per person. Some fab prizes and a great laugh. Come along and support those who support us.
A QUEER DO:
Organised in conjunction with the drama soc, outinul, the equality officer and campaigns officer, we present on the heels of the heads of bill announcement RE: Civil Unions…A QUEER DO! Come along for a night out in support of Marriagequality and NOISE, on the 9th of April Bakers Underground (down stairs from the wicked chicken and bakers place), and listen to some awesome tunes. All proceeds from the night will go to Marriagequality. Cost is 5 euros in. ALL SUPPORTERS OF EQUALITY IN MARRIAGE ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!!!
COMING OUT WORKSHOP:
Ger Hanley, the LGBT Liasion Officer here in UL will be holding a coming out workshop on the 10th and the 17th of April. These are both thursday nights and are informal gatherings.
The coming out workshops have been mistakenly believed to be for anyone who is just coming out of the closet. They aren’t. The workshops are for everyone, unlike the monday night meetings where myself, or Joe will be talking about upcoming events, this workshop is hosted by Ger, a qualified counciler who will lead the group in discussions around coming out, how it was to us to come out and whether it is actually nesscary to come out.
These workshops usually end with a movie night, which will be on the 24th of May, so why not come along and see what’s involved. You never know, it could be fun.
NOMINATIONS FOR COMMITTEE POSITIONS:
AGM time again folks. We’ll be looking for a brand new committee. Our Elections always take place just before the summer, as it’s always nice to have a new committee in place before the long break ahead. We plan to hold the AGM on the 21st of April.
Postions to be filled are as follows:
President - our noble leader.
vice pres - The one who backs up, or argues with our noble president.
Secutary - glorified gofer, and note taker.
Public Relations Officer - This person is responsible for writing the articles for An Focal, writing e-mails, doing up news letters, ensuring that the ‘face’ and name of the society are well known for good things.
Tresurer- The one that keeps the books and finances in order.
It would be nice to see:
WebMaster: Someone who would take on the sole responsiblity of looking after the website and the bebo page, maintaining it and updating it.
Events Organiser: The role of this person would be to organise the events that the society will be taking part in. They will be the one coming up with the ideas and organising with the rest of the committee the various events that the society will be going on, or taking part in.
LA BOUTIQUE:
on this sat night, starts at 11, starts filling up around 11.30 p.m. On twice monthly. 10 euros in.
Right so, that’s it for now, hope ye all had a good weekend, and that the rest of the week goes well for ya. maybe someone from the dubla trip could write a little bit about it for the website and the bebo page…leaving names and more ‘descriptive’ stuff out.
G.
