There is no Eden this weekend coming but there is the following weekend, 8 December, and they have arranged that students get in for EUR 5 all night with valid student ID. So guys feel free to make use of this! I know exams again are there but it’s a standing offer around for the New Year!

Appointments for other times are available as well just drop him an e-mail gerard.hanley@ul.ie

Everything is confidential and is an excellent place to clear the auld noggin!

RAINBOW COFFEE DOCK
With more and more volunteers Rainbow Coffee Dock is open nearly always! So if you happen to be in town call into them and say hi! They have a friendly atmosphere and some may say demeanour too?!

BAR3
Some of us are heading to Bar3 Thursday night so meeting in the Stables around 9.00pm and we’ll head into town for a little while! It will give us all a chance to cut loose for a night!! More the merrier!

Newsletter - 17th Nov

Hey everyone,

Well, how’d everyone enjoy Movie Night? I think everyone had fun and we got some fun things talked about! (Thanks Ger for the popcorn!!! lol)  Just a few things to cover in the coming week….

Report on IBTS
Now as it stands the meeting between the Irish Blood Transfusion Service and the Student’s Union has had to be postponed. So when the occurs we’ll hopefully be able to inform you all soon!

Ger Hanly, LGBT Liaison Officer, kindly represented Out in UL’s views on the IBTS Policy, which basically stand to say yes this is discrimination and that the IBTS’s policy stands only to discriminate against gay and bisexual men - regardless of the latest statistics of HIV/AIDS issued.

Coffee Mornings
In the run up to exams and pressure building up, would a coffee morning be of interest to people? Out in UL would love the chance to help if even just for an hour to clear heads etc! All we need is for people to say they want them and when and we can go about organising them!

So e-mail the Soc or comment on the website or Bebo and we will do our best!

Santa’s Big Gay Snowballs

A huge thank you to everyone that has stepped forward to help out either in the run up to or on the day of Snowballs! It’s great to have it! If anyone would like to get involved and help, e-mail us and let us know!

Venue:- Bar3, Bedford Row
Date:- 6th December, 2007
Time:- 9.30pm till late
Cost:- 5 euro before 11pm  (8e after!)

So with that I hope we can see you all there! Remember details are on the website and will be up on Bebo asap!

Next Meeting
And at last, our next meeting will be in Room 3 - SU, on Monday night at 7pm. Everyone welcome!!! And remember as always this is your society! If we ain’t running it right say so! If anyone has any ideas they’d like to see developed in th Soc send and email, bring it up at meetings, whatever works!

Your Pres,
Niall

LGBT Lives

Supporting LGBT Lives in Ireland: A Study of Mental Health and Well-Being

www.LGBTlives.ie

GLEN in collaboration with BeLonG To Youth Project have commissioned researchers from Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin to conduct the first significant study of LGBT mental health and well-being in Ireland.  The study is funded by the National Office for Suicide Prevention.

The aim is to identify risk and resilience factors for LGBT mental health and suicide and to develop a model of best practice for LGBT mental health promotion and suicide prevention in an Irish context.

The online survey component of the study will explore various aspects of LGBT people’s lives in Ireland such as school, work, coming out, use of health care services and mental health.  The online survey will go live on Thursday 1st November 2007 and will run for approximately two months.

For more information contact Odhrán Allen, Director of Mental Health Strategy at GLEN on 01-4730563 or odhranallen@glen.ie

Long time no chat?! Well Bank Holiday over and a week of fun and frolics with Halloween…hope you all got loads of sweeties and had fun!

Pink Training
We have to rush this as the deadline for the application forms in this coming Thursday (08/11/07). I cannot stress how much fun this is each year and how it builds friendships and links! Pink is the USI equivalent of Baby Blue Training. Workshops on different LGBT related topics run during the day and at night let your hair down with some of the other delegates!.

Ok the weekend is the 23rd of November, and travel and accommodation is included by the Society. If you are interested in going to this years Pink Training
hosted by UCC e-mail the Society and we'll arrange the details!

Bowling night
Well this was discussed in the last meeting for Week9 I believe so if you want it e-mail the soc and we'll get organizing! Wednesdays tend to be best but Thursdays work too so shout out which day you want!

Meeting
Ok our next meeting is for this coming Monday, 05/11/07 at 7pm and is in the Mediation Room (above the Venus Labs).
