updates and Upcoming events!
Okay so first up, for those of you who were at the meeting last night (thanks for showing up, its great to see ye all there), this is a reminder to send those letters concerning the blood ban and exclusion of Gay Men to gerard.hanley@ul.ie so that something can be done. For those of you who weren't at the meeting…
Basically it comes down to a letter that was sent around the entire student body that listed the exclusionary details for giving blood this week. Omitted from this list is Gay Men, now not all of you may know this, but Gay Men are not allowed to give blood under any circumstances. This is put forward under the notion that their blood isn't safe. The thing about being omitted is that a lot of young first years aren't aware of this and may be turned away once inside, a position which they shouldn't be put in. The idea is to send a letter to the underlined address protesting this so that we can show the collage that we are against it, that is the exclusion of Gay Men and the fact that the screening process for blood is not accurate enough to even assertain if blood from heterosexuals, or lesbian women is safe. Its an exclusionary method that can be put down to homophobia.
(please feel free to correct me if I've gotten this wrong).
Anyone with contacts to MARY I, LIT and the ART COLLAGE, please remind them of the upcoming christmas gig which they are all invited to attend on Thursday night. Please attend and bring your freinds.
On wedensday the decorating committee or anyone intrested in helping out with decorating BAR3 for the *Santa's Big Gay Snowballs* on thursday night should show up there to have a look at the place, if its okay we don't need to do anything, if not let me know and we can get what's needed to *enhance* the atmosphere (dare I mention a christmas tree with condoms and 5c lollipops on it???) If the place does indeed need that extra *enhancement* we will be meeting in BAR 3 anytime after
